Tango Fire of Buenos Aires Coming to Manila

Flicker of feet. Slow and fast. Sensual movements. Air crackling with tension and passion. Dramatic. Exciting.

From the shadows behind bordello-red curtains, the stage reminiscent of Argentinian dance halls, the world-renowned Tango Fire of Buenos Aires will grace Manila with their hot moves that will surely titillate dance lovers in the country.

Their phenomenal show, "Tango Fire—Flames of Desire," which left audiences from the USA, Canada, the UK, and Europe, Asia and South Africa reeling, will now give us a taste of their mind-blowing seductive and dangerous moves for two nights, on January 17 and 18, 2012, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, for the benefit of Ballet Philippines Foundation’s Noordin Jumalon Dance Scholarship Fund.

Last November 9, 2011 Ballet Philippines invited correspondents and tango lovers for a night of "Tango Fire Preview" at Nuvo Bar and Wine Restaurant at Greenbelt 2. They served Tango Fire martinis, and then opened the outdoor Nuvo for some tango, with professional and amateur tango dancers dancing the night away (video). I was there as OrangeMagazineTV.com's correspondent and I was greatly disappointed that the Tango Fire performers, or at least one Tango Fire couple, weren't there to give us a glimpse or a "preview" of their much-talked about performance as expected. There was only a video of Tango Fire's performances in a loop to excite us for the upcoming show

But based on international reviews of "Tango Fire—Flames of Desire," we are surely guaranteed a once-in-a-lifetime experience in January. According to the London paper The Boston Globe, “rarely has the tempestuous Tango looked like so much exuberant, out-and-out fun as with the Tango Fire Company of Buenos Aires... [leaving] you burning to take up where they left off.”

Dance Europe Review raves, "The strength of the show lies in these kinds of juxtaposition – the sexy moments versus the virtuoso steps; the mix of slow and fast; dances interspersed with musical numbers. The dancing's great, the music’s great, and the show's balance satisfies tango veterans and neophytes alike."

"The format is simple. Five couples dance group numbers and duets. The music is performed live by the splendid quartet Quatrotango, sometimes joined by the soft-voiced singer Jesus Hidalgo. In the first half, the tangos are traditional, with 1940s styling in the hair and costumes. After the interval, we see more acrobatic tango showdances. Both are spectacular," reports The Independent.

Kay, if you visit their site or watch their performances on YouTube, they are definitely world-class excellent performers. I was looking forward to seeing one performance from a Tango Fire couple at Nuvo, kaso hindi sila nakarating. :/

If someone would give me FREE tickets, then I'd be happy to watch their show. Experience din kasi yun...to be exposed to AUTHENTIC and world-renowned Argentinian tango! :)
