IFFAM takes part in Fantastic 7 initiative in Cannes for Second Year

“Foreign Cop” producer, Jorge Cordeiro dos Santos was invited to the 4th IFFAM Project Market.

The International Film Festival & Awards Macao (IFFAM), jointly organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association, is pleased to be participating for a second year in Fantastic 7, a Cannes Market initiative that has taken place online this year between June 22-26.

An initiative of the Marché du Film, Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and international expert Bernardo Bergeret, the Fantastic 7 presents seven “fantastic” genre projects from seven different festivals and fosters emerging talents and connects them with potential business partners by creating a privileged space for dialogue and exchange.

IFFAM joins Sitges, Bucheon International Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival, Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara, SXSW South by Southwest and Toronto International Film Festival in the festival lineup. Each festival has endorsed a project which has been presented during a pitching session held on June 24 at the Marché du Film Online. Furthermore, professionals interested in the projects organized meetings with project creators in speed meetings on June 26.

IFFAM this year put forward the local Macao project Foreign Cop directed by Maxim Bessmertny and produced by Bessmertny and Jorge Cordeiro dos Santos. This crime thriller, currently in development, is set in 1980 Macao where gangsters, cabaret dancers, and slot machines coexist in an exciting atmosphere of neon lights, kitsch architecture and early consumer electronics.

Macao (IFFAM) is to take place with the theme “A Celebration Of Life & The Big Screen” from Dec 3-8. The festival will present a full programme of features and shorts and a specially curated section will be devoted to a selection of films that define the out-of-home “big screen” experience.
